April 25th is the 37th National Children’s Vaccination Publicity Day. The theme of this year’s publicity is "Take the initiative to vaccinate and share a healthy life". The Hunan Provincial Health and Wellness Committee held the "National Vaccination Day" in 2023 at the Basketball Hall of Malanshan Sports Park in Changsha.
Li Junhua, member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of Hunan Provincial Health and Wellness Committee, attended the event and delivered a speech. Relevant leaders and experts from the CDC of Hunan Provincial Health and Wellness Commission, Health Education Publicity Center of Hunan Provincial Health and Wellness Commission, Hunan Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Changsha Municipal Health and Wellness Commission, Changsha Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and Kaifu District People’s Government of Changsha attended the on-site activities.
In his speech, Li Junhua pointed out that in recent years, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council have paid close attention to children’s health. It has been 45 years since China implemented the immunization planning policy, from vaccination against smallpox to four vaccines against six diseases and then to 11 vaccines against twelve diseases. The immunization planning work has achieved remarkable results: smallpox and polio have been eliminated in our province, and no diphtheria cases have been reported; The carrier rate of hepatitis B virus surface antigen in children under 5 years old has dropped below 1%, and diseases such as meningitis, Japanese encephalitis, measles and rubella are at the lowest incidence level in history. Practice has proved that immunization program is one of the most significant, influential and popular measures in China’s health work, which has made great contributions to effectively protecting children’s health and improving the quality of the population.
Li Junhua emphasized that health administrative departments at all levels, disease control institutions and grassroots health institutions in the province should pay more attention to vaccination work, strengthen vaccination capacity building, and provide healthy and high-quality vaccination services for the people. Call on the general public and friends, especially young parents, to scientifically understand vaccination, eliminate doubts, take the initiative to vaccinate children on time, and keep children away from diseases and have a healthy body.
In his speech, Liu Jiyang, director of the Changsha Municipal Health and Wellness Committee, pointed out that the immunization planning in Changsha has been continuously improved in terms of software and hardware level and service capacity in accordance with the principles of "regional planning, rational layout, fixed-point vaccination and standardized management". At present, the city has built 268 vaccination clinics and 58 obstetric "two vaccines" vaccination units, taking the lead in implementing the cold chain storage and transportation service model of vaccines throughout the province. Since 1992, the city has remained polio-free, and the incidence of vaccine-preventable diseases such as measles, rubella, epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis and Japanese encephalitis has remained at a low level. The coverage rate of basic immunization report of Changsha immunization program vaccine has exceeded 95%, which has built an effective immune barrier for the healthy growth of children in the city.

Vaccination experts provide advice and answers to the people on the spot and accept exclusive interviews with relevant media. On-site activities also arranged for vaccination doctors and representatives of children’s parents to speak. After the on-site activities, relevant leaders went to the vaccination site to observe and express their condolences to the vaccination doctors.
More than 200 community residents participated in the on-site activities, and more than 3,000 related publicity materials were distributed. In line with the publicity theme, a series of popular science articles and promotional videos were simultaneously launched online.
Vaccination is a systematic project, which needs the attention and support of the whole society. At present, the safety and effectiveness of Covid-19 vaccine independently developed and produced in China have undergone rigorous clinical trials, especially after mass vaccination, and its safety has been fully certified. At present, 11 kinds of vaccines such as hepatitis B vaccine, BCG vaccine, live attenuated polio vaccine, inactivated polio vaccine, DTP vaccine, measles vaccine, live attenuated hepatitis A vaccine, group A meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine, group A meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine and live attenuated Japanese encephalitis vaccine are provided for all school-age children in the province to prevent 12 diseases. At the same time,You can also prevent influenza, pneumococcal diseases, chickenpox, rabies and cervical cancer by vaccinating some voluntary and self-funded non-immunization programs.
